Newcastle University

Our video production team has worked with Newcastle University for 10 years and during that time we have collaborated with many departments, from the Corporate Affairs Team to the National Innovation Centre of Ageing and Data. We see ourselves as a critical friend to our clients and we think our work stands out because of our thorough client relationship.

Check out a few highlights from the work we have created together over the past few years.

Freedom City 2017

We were asked by Newcastle University to develop a series of case studies from those who were lucky enough to attend Dr. Martin Luther King’s Ceremony.

We designed a series of videos allowing each person to have full opportunity to discuss their memories while also looking at how Dr King’s Visit has affected those that attend the university today.

Alumni Network

Newcastle University asked us to produce a film which functions on 2 levels - 1) to celebrate graduating - 2) to promote the alumni network. The resulting video offers a moment for reflection, while posing the question ‘what next’?

Consent is a topic of huge importance, which we need to talk about more.

Newcastle University asked us to create an animation for new and returning students on this theme. We developed a concise, direct script which introduces rules, guidelines and boundaries and aims to make some clarity of a topic which is often deemed cloudy and confusing. We adopted a hand-drawn style with a lower frame rate, resulting in a playful, sketchy aesthetic which would appeal to students. We made use of symbols and icons to illustrate information in an engaging and easily digestible manner. Overall, the video conveys its message visually and verbally in a relatable, accessible and explicit way.

Newcastle University have set themselves the goal of Carbon Net Nero by 2030. But how will they achieve this?

We were commissioned by the university to create a film which communicates their 10 point plan. We constructed a powerful script to convey the sense of urgency and determination, which was read out by key members of the initiative. For emphasis, we created a layer of animation. With a punchy soundtrack, the film is an engaging insight into the university’s efforts against climate change.

What is the thinking behind Newcastle University’s corporate vision?

We created this production for Newcastle University, to express their ideals through film. A university which is people-focused and aims to make a positive impact; a catalyst for economic growth; a pioneer in shaping brighter futures: this is all a part of a new vision to express their collective sense of purpose.
